What every Georgia business owner needs to know
So, we have been seeing talk about the new 2-link per month rule on Meta, unless you subscribe to Meta One. Well, it is finally here. We received this warning today when trying to attach links to a client’s Facebook Page.
Meta has officially rolled out a significant change to how external links are shared on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. For years, sharing links to websites, sales pages, or booking forms was an unlimited, free feature. Now, Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, and WhatsApp messaging on the free tier are restricted to including external links in just two organic posts or comments per month.
To share more than two external links per month, you will now need to subscribe to Meta One. There are plans for personal, creator, and business designed to help you engage, express yourself or grow your business where your friends community and customers already are. Here is a breakdown of the new pricing structures (These prices are per app and if you don’t use the features, they do NOT roll over into the next month).

Exemptions: Links pointing to other Meta apps (like Threads or WhatsApp), official Facebook affiliate partner links, and links placed inside paid advertisements do not count toward your monthly quota
This update makes a strong organic Social Media Strategy more critical than ever. The popular workaround of dropping a link in the first comment will now count toward your monthly limit. However, there are exceptions. Links to Meta-owned platforms, such as Instagram or WhatsApp, do not count against your limit. Links within paid ads are also exempt.
The Workaround
Fortunately, there is a fantastic workaround that can help you bypass these restrictions completely. Directing your audience to “click the link in our bio” is a highly effective strategy. Because Meta’s new limits specifically target external links placed directly in your organic post captions or comments, pointing followers to the main website link on your Facebook Page allows you to share promotional content without hitting the cap. This approach has been a staple strategy on Instagram for years, and it is now becoming essential for Facebook.
To make the most of this tactic, we highly recommend using a custom landing page or link tree for the link in your bio. This allows you to house all your most important promotional links, booking forms, and service pages in one convenient spot so you do not have to constantly change the main link on your profile. You can also utilize Facebook Stories, which offer another creative way to direct traffic without impacting your monthly feed post limits.
To adapt to these changes, businesses must prioritize high-value content. Save your allotted direct links for major announcements, events, or crucial lead magnets. For everyday updates, focus on starting conversations, encouraging followers to send a direct message, and driving traffic to the link in your bio. Because social media platforms are aggressively pushing to keep users on their apps, shifting toward direct engagement and strategic planning will be essential to maintaining your website traffic and driving real results.
